The Cambridge Fire Department Headquarters at 491 Broadway, built in 1932, is undergoing a $77 million renovation led by W.T. Rich and designed by TGAS – The Galante Architectural Studio, Inc. This 24,670 square foot facility, housing Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, administrative offices, the fire prevention bureau, and the technical services division, is situated at a busy Cambridge Street junction. The upgrades, scheduled for completion in 2025, aim to enhance functionality, safety, and capacity, ensuring efficient and safe operations for the fire department in this high-traffic area.
